Tim Heiremans spent his childhood in Belgium sailing small sailing boats as a hobby. After leaving high school, he studied Nautical Science at the Maritime University in Antwerp, his place of birth. He then spent three years sailing on tall ships (Star Clippers) and then a further five years aboard large passenger ships (Holland America Line and Windstar Cruises) where he went on to attain the rank of staff captain and attaining a Master Mariner’s certificate, before returning to the shore to study for a Master in Business Administration at Vlerick Leuven Gent Management School.
He went on to manage a shore based company for two years but realized that his passion was in being at sea. In 2008, he returned to the ocean and began the next phase of his career securing a position aboard classical superyacht Haida G. Hereafter he sailed on M/Y Reverie as Chief Officer and Captain. He managed various drydocks and refits on board M/Y Reverie. After spending a year on M/Y Eclipse, he sailed as captain onboard M/Y 2 Ladies, including final new-built supervision.
He is now a riverpilot on the river Scheldt, accessing the port of Antwerp.
